Welcome to the gynaecology clinic at CalatafimiMed. Through its specialist gynaecologists the clinic provides support in the prevention of cancers of the reproductive system and the breast, and diagnoses and treats the main gynaecological conditions, such as menstrual cycle disorders, genital infections, diseases of the ovaries and the uterus, endometriosis and contraception (including the prescription of emergency contraception).

Frequently asked questions about Gynaecology
Which services does the gynaecology clinic offer?
Gynaecological and obstetric visits (first visit and follow-ups), visits with ultrasound, pap tests and HPV tests, vaginal and cervical swabs, colposcopy and cervical biopsy, IUD insertion and removal, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and advice on adolescence, contraception, pregnancy, the menopause and couple infertility.
What is the “Women’s prevention” pathway?
It is designed for women over 40: in a single appointment you have a gynaecological visit with ultrasound and a pap test.
Can I have a pap test and an HPV test at the same appointment?
Yes. You can have the pap test on its own, the pap test with an associated HPV test, or the high-risk HPV test with genotyping.
Do you carry out pregnancy ultrasound scans?
Yes: first, second (anomaly scan) and third trimester obstetric ultrasound, including 3D, ultrasound with Doppler flow study, second level ultrasound and the fetal DNA test.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. A GP referral is not needed for a private specialist visit: you only need to book. Please bring any tests you have already had, previous reports and a list of the medication you are taking.
