Clinical significance
Cyclohexane is a hydrocarbon used as a solvent and paint thinner, as well as in other industrial applications. It is fairly volatile, so it tends to disperse into the air of the places where it is used. It can irritate the skin and airways.
Blood concentrations correlate with exposure levels.

Occupational exposure to cyclohexane.
Sample type
The patient must have a blood sample taken.
Preparation
Fasting is not required.
Notes
Cyclohexane is metabolised fairly quickly, so samples for analysis must be taken at the end of the work shift.
