Holter monitoring
Holter monitoring is a non-invasive diagnostic test that records the electrical activity of the heart continuously for 24 hours (or several days if needed), during your normal daily activities and at night.
It is an essential tool to diagnose arrhythmias and other heart rhythm disorders that often do not show up in an electrocardiogram lasting only a few seconds.
What is it and how does it work
Small electrodes are applied to the chest and connected to a portable recorder that is light and comfortable to wear.
The device continuously detects and stores the electrical activity of the heart. At the end of the monitoring the cardiologist analyses the data, obtaining a detailed trace of the heart’s activity throughout the day.
